Description : Chez Maurice, Restaurant de Bourgogne, Canal Saint Martin, 75010 Paris, cheap eat, great atmosphere
Chez Maurice
Chez Maurice is jovially busy and the banter is often in a variety of languages
This is a local hangout that seems to always have a seat for those in need of food and company
Manet's "Bar at the Folies-Bergère" it is not, but then, who'd want it to be?
One of the best cheap eats in Paris!
Restaurant de Bourgogne
The food is inexpensive, simple, plentiful and delicious
You don't always want to have to think about which fork goes with what dish and whether you are insulting the chef if you mop the plate with your bread: sometimes you just want to feel sated.
It may not be 5 star dining, but that only adds to Chez Maurice's charm
The menu consists of dishes in the traditional Bourgogne style
... me being indecisive about which dessert to get...
Our American friend Mike enjoying a glass of wine - then being punished for doing so (it wasn't his wine)
The dessert menu consists of French classics
This is the kind of place you where you end up talking to whoever is seated next to you. In this case, two lovely young French guys who saw me eyeballing their dessert and ended up sharing it with us
Our hostess is very genial and welcoming - and she reminded me that she can even speak English with those who need it!
The very sweet waitress whom I harassed into submission so I could get a photo of her
Some pages from the menu
It's about 1am and - finally - the kitchen is starting to slow down
